The Travel Agent industry strikes back: Daily Travel Deal.com
I just got a link to Daily Travel Deal.com, a site that posts various travel deals and advice each day (of course). Darcy, a travel agent, launched the site May 11. Good idea for her! Strike up business and inform people at the same time. A travel agent not afraid that the internet is going to dismantle her industry. I wonder if it’s the same Darcy as the one who wrote here … (update: yes, it is.)

Yep as a matter a fact it is me! The internet is a wonderful source of information and most travel agents use it every day. The key is to find a knowledgeable agent that can filter through all that information, find out whats “real” and then pass it on to you - the savvy traveler.
How to find that savvy agent? Ask questions questions questions. Ask if they’ve been there done that or have sent clients and gotten feedback. Be wary of the ones that work at home in their Pj’s without a reliable agency affiliation.
AND the nicer you are to your agent - the harder they’ll work for you.
Love the site as always, keep up the great work!

Another promo for travel agents, everybody :). Seriously though, Darcy, is that really your photo on the site? And if so, would you mind posting a few more (just so we can be certain it’s you, that’s all)?

Over the years I have used a number of different travel agents, varrying ages and backgrounds, and I must say there is no substitute for a well travelled, “been there, done that” mature travel agent.
This is not to say that someone young and just getting into the business won’t do just fine, because enthusiasm and hard work always level the playing field.
It’s just a preference I guess.
