This is not to say that someone young and just getting into the business won't do just fine, because enthusiasm and hard work always level the playing field. It's just a preference I guess. The internet is a wonderful source of information and most travel agents use it every day. The key is to find a knowledgeable agent that can filter through all that information, find out whats "real" and then pass it on to you - the savvy traveler. How to find that savvy agent? Ask questions questions questions. Ask if they've been there done that or have sent clients and gotten feedback. Be wary of the ones that work at home in their Pj's without a reliable agency affiliation. AND the nicer you are to your agent - the harder they'll work for you.
