Get paid for sleeping — work for Frontier Airlines

Now who knows how many airplane pilots take naps in the cockpit. It’s joked about sure, so when it lands in the realm of printed fact it’s easy to get excited. The Rocky Mountain News published the article Pilots asleep on DIA approach today. It’s about what seems to be Frontier airlines pilots on a Baltimore-to-Denver flight in 2004 who fell asleep, much to the fright and dismay of the Denver air traffic control folk:

On his third overnight flight, the pilot and first officer were sound asleep as they approached Denver International Airport. At 60 miles out, their jet was rushing toward the crowded skies surrounding the airport at Mach .82, or 608 mph, instead of the 287-mph speed required at that point.

Nothing bad resulted, of course. Except this news article, which is racking up a good chunk of attention (it’s at the top of Yahoo News’ most-popular list right now, and it’s at the top of the Rocky’s as well). Apparently United and Frontier are the only airlines that used the airplanes described in the report, but Frontier was the only airline that ran that at that time. So, hey, get paid for sleeping. Be an airline pilot.

Hey! At least they were actually Flying…Here is my story…
Hi! I just wanted to share my misery…I bought tickets in June to go to Cabo San Lucas Mexico for Thanksgiving…Roundtrip Nonstop both ways. Well Frontier decided last week to change everything. They added a flight and a layover in Denver Colorado, an extra eight-nine hours on the flight back to Sacramento Nov26th. Thankfully they sent a little postcard telling me about the change. I called and they found me another way back through LAX, closer but still not a nonstop. Well then we go to Sacramento Sun Nov18th three and a half hours early, and you guessed it They Canceled The Flight #4524 to LosCabos MX. They had us all on concrete floors from Noon to 6:30pm waiting and waiting and waiting. They said the restroom door was not operating properly??? What a crock!! Oh! they would put us on another flight in a couple days??? Hello!! We had condos rented, cars rented, trips, fishing,a vacation. All Ruined by Frontier Airlines. But thats OK they said we could have a refund in ten days with NO Penalties! Mr.Sean Menke CEO WAKE UP! People depend on airlines to FLY. Fire whoever is responsible for the mess. Do not waste our time and money, get out of California. Save yourself do not fly Frontier Airlines. Sorry I ever heard of them. They do not have” I’m SORRY” in their vocabulary, the customer service department is not interested in our complaints. All they say is “the airline industry is known for canceling and changing flights.” I wonder how things are in Denver? Any better? Any Worse? We live a six hour round trip drive to the Sacramento Airport. Plenty of time to think about Frontier Airlines and what a disorganized group of non caring people can do to your vacation. You would think five months is enough time to plan a trip? How much do we have to put up with to get things changed??
