My ex and I purchased tickets for a trip in 2009. Before travel, we had to cancel our trip. Delta held the credit in the amount of $491.40 for my ticket as a "voucher". They set an expiration date on the voucher, now expired. In other words, I paid $491.40 in real money and they just get to keep it and I get nothing. In the state I live in - WA - it's against state law to issue "gift certificates" with expiry dates. This is because "gift certificates" are paid by the customer with real dollars, unlike coupons. If a company shuts down or wants to discharge the obligation, they are required to give the money to the state's "Unclaimed Property" fund where the owner (or heirs) may find it some time later. I don't understand why airlines get to operate above state law(obvious puns excluded).

I've now checked in with Delta in SEA. This is the last time I fly them. No FC upgrades, denied my confirmed seat and gave me a center location. (after seeing my confirmed seat assignment in writing from the agency) Agents were irritating and not helpful in any way.

Worst flying experience in years! I fly 4 - 6 times per year. Not alot today, but significantly more in the past. Also worked for an airline for 10 years, with extensive experience working with passengers.

I'll be re-booking my return on either United or American.

I booked a flight from SFO to Dublin, Ireland by way of Atlanta on Delta. I spoke with the reservations department myself as did the travel agent from Quinn Travel (San Francisco, CA). We were both told that I could bring my small cat as carry-on provided I obtain the proper health certificates. This was noted on my reservation.

I did all that was required and had all paperwork with me but was still refused boarding on the plane. The first “issue” was that the hard-side carrier was too large for carry on with a pet. The size of the carry on was well within the limits of regular carry on but I was made to purchase a soft-side carrier for the trip. After I had done that I was told that Ireland would not accept pets from in the cabin travel and that my cat must travel as cargo. Then I was told that Ireland had an embargo against pets traveling into the country from May to September 15, 2009. I contacted the Irish government and NO SUCH EMBARGO EXISTS. (Padraic Lavin, Animal Health & Welfare http://www.agriculture.gov.ie/pets)

I am out a great deal of expense due to Deltas misinformation and lack of professionalism.

My current out-of-pocket expenses total: $745.62

I am also severely inconvenienced as I am trying to move to Ireland and am currently stuck here. I have no income as I am relocating and this delay is a financial hardship.

**Documents faxed to Delta: My plane “ticket”, my parking receipt, the UPS receipt and the veterinary receipts as well as the soft-side case receipt from the store.

As of 09/01/2009 Diana M. Keller, Coordinator Customer Care has refused any/all compensation.

I have had a horrible experince with Delta concerning my lost luggage. I had to talk to people in India who I cuold not understand and do not have one lick of information concerning what could have happened to my luggage. There is nobody to take responsibility for your claim just this vague message that they are sending a message to ???someone and hopefully your luggage will materialize.
I know I will never be fully compensated for all of my things that were lost (taken). I am soooo angry!

I've checked this story out and because of my deep and extensive knowledge of Delta and other U.S. airlines route system and ticketing policies, I can swear this story is a lie! The route discribed for this OMA/CUN does not exist. The terms and conditions on the voucher state they are transferable, however, the person named on the certificate must be present when issuing the ticket to another person. DUH..if the person who got the certificate is not present, then how are the airlines to know whether they're stolen or not. And of recent months, travel vouchers can be used on the airline web sites. If you're not bright enough to figure it out, call the online help desk.

By way of history……to explain this Afriend and her husband and two children went to Cancun in March of 2007. On their way TO Cancun they got bumped (I think in Atlanta)….so Delta gave all four of them travel vouchers worth $400.00 each. Last fall they decided to give the tickets away because they weren’t going to use them They were assured by the Delta people they were tickets that could be transferred. BEFORE I got them “I” called Delta and asked the same thing…Yes, yes, yes….The only catch was I couldn’t book our flight through anything like Expedia or Travelocity etc…It had to be through Delta. Which they told me had to be either over the phone through Delta or at the airport….Couldn’t even use them at Delta.com. Not a problem, I say….I march up to the ticket counter today with my fancy vouchers and ask to book flights to LA. He didn’t think he could and then he started and punching away and came up with yup---a cost that would be a whopping $700+……EACH. Apparently Delta does NOT give airports the cheapy flights…they give those to Travelocity, etc. So, I called Delta and EVENTUALLY through a lot of explaining got a flight booked that was going to cost us $470.00. Ok, so we’d have $400.00 work of voucher to use –that’s not so bad to pay a little extra. Only thing was for that price we had to leave a day LATER than we planned and we had to leave from OMAHA…to Cincinnati then LA. Coming back—now get this: LA to San Francisco to Omaha –getting in to Omaha at 11:30 at nite.. Sooooooooo, I GO BACK to the ticket counter with my confirmation number that the Delta telephone chick had given me and the ticket agent proceeds to punch in the flight to get us squared away and couldn’t get it done. He got on the phone to somebody ---God himself I think….He was on the phone for over an hour. In between times I’m BACK on the phone to Delta saying Can’t you do something???? What is going on? The telephone chick says---What’s the problem I have you confirmed?? I say---BEATS me???? The ticket agent come BACK to me and says there is no way these tickets are transferable…that only the names on them can use them OR possibly have them come to the airport physically and turn them over to us…and then that wasn’t for sure either. It was horrible. 2 1/2 hours later I had nothing. I called the Delta Corporate Offices and got no where either. The LESSON HERE IS>>>DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING WHEN YOU GET A FREE VOUCHER!!! The prices to travel are horribly expensive and you CANNOT easily transfer them. If DELTA can bump people from flights & give them free tickets for their "inconvenience"--why should I have had to go through a 2 1/2 hour mess and get no results?????? I was treated horribly by Delta telephone people, Delta ticket agents at the airport and their Corporate office as well. I ended up getting something else online..........
