What time is the best to book a flight? 12 A.M. Eastern, apparently

The Associated Press reports on the best time to book flights:

The co-founder of Lessno.com, a Web site that offers international flights, says it does matter.

“Our experience with airlines has shown us that they update available seats around 12 a.m. Eastern time every day,” said Assen Vassilev, who is also the company’s CEO.

He added that weekend specials are usually released Thursday night. So, Vassilev said, late Thursday night is a good time to check for the best deals.

This runs contrary to this best-day-to-buy-cheap-flights advice, which comes from CNN (which comes from Travelocity). They advocate buying plane tickets on Wednesdays to get the best fares:

For all the seeming complexity that goes into the price of airfare, the answer to when some of the cheapest tickets can be found is surprisingly simple: Wednesday.

That’s when airlines release their available seats for the upcoming weekend and the weekend after, says Travelocity’s Dominique Phillip.

So, who to trust — Travelocity or Lessno?
