What Iceland’s volcano ash cloud is making people who want to get home do
Over in Europe right now they’re getting ready for the Monday morning work shift. Many employees will be calling in sick, on account of Iceland’s volcanic ash.
Here’s what some people who are attempting to make it back to Britain in time are doing:
“Meanwhile, men in business suits and carrying briefcases were walking up and down the lines offering to pay drivers to be allowed into their cars.
“Some pleaded, some offered cash, others tried to bribe their way into other people’s vehicles with cartons of cigarettes.
“One Polish guy who had a hoard of cigarettes in his estate car was selling them at a premium to these business men, so that they could then use them to bribe their way onto other cars.”
There’s more about the state of Britons trying to get home in this Telegraph.co.uk article, Britons stranded as Iceland volcano grounds flights.
