Airplanes and Pets: A guide on how to do it

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

I don’t own a pet, but if I did this guide would be way useful. It breaks down in airline-by-airline detail the nuances of flying-with-pet rules and fees. It lists the steps necessary to get your pet out and in the airplane:

Determine if your pet is able to travel
Determine which airlines will allow your pet […]

Airline Travel Myths: Being on time, being glamorous, more…

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

NPR breaks down a bunch of modern air travel myths. Seems that today’s airplane passenger has a few too many rusty ideas about the way things oughta work. These are a few of my favorites:

Nothing is more thrilling and glamorous than modern jet flight.
When you purchase a ticket, you expect to travel to the city […]

Air Traffic Controllers sure aren’t funny.

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

So I see this link to a page of “Funny Air Traffic Control quotes.” Figure any list of funny quotes is probably a good list. Man was I wrong. To be fair, it might not be the air traffic controllers’ fault they’re not funny. It might be they don’t have a good set-up man. Or […]

Gettin’ crazy in the skies. No, seriously going nutso.

Monday, March 12th, 2007

From her lips:
“Whilst conversing with Mr. Fiennes … during my break I expressed a need to go to the toilet,” she wrote in a statement to her Qantas bosses (via Australia’s Daily Telegraph). […]

My cheap-flight strategy for 2007

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

I’ve got a three-prong strategy for finding the cheapest and best flight fares these days. It’s not complicated, but it takes a little effort.

Bookmark your town’s low-fare list on Air Fare Watchdog. Check it weekly, and when you’re ready to book a flight check it daily. This site finds fares you’re unlikely to get anywhere […]

The Travel Commandments

Monday, February 12th, 2007

There’s some good stuff in Daily Candy’s Travel Commandments. My favorite:
You call it a romantic three-day weekend; the airlines call your Friday night departure a sitting duck. Keep a plan B at point A just in case a jauntily named storm comes between you and paradise.

Southwest Airlines cracks down on mile-high clubbing

Monday, November 27th, 2006

From the Mile High Club news wire:
A California couple are facing federal charges after allegedly refusing to stop “overt sexual activity” on a flight to Raleigh, North Carolina.
I don’t know who’s more at fault here: Southwest Airlines, the Raleigh airport police, or the couple. According to the article, the couple got rude with the […]
